My MBA Courses in the Fall

on

I’m almost there!! It feels so close, I can almost see the diploma hanging on the wall! I am one semester away from getting my MBA and I can’t tell you how excited I am. The best thing is that I am finishing of the program with two great courses I’m looking forward to completing.

Over the last 10 years of my career, I have had VERY little positive experiences with Human Resources. For the most part, the tend to be slow, and inefficient. I’m hoping this course will help me better understand the challenges faced in Human Resource management.

MGMT 639. Managing Human Resources for Competitive Advantage

This course probes the underlying values and techniques associated with employee recruitment, selection, motivation, training, affirmative action, compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and related topics.

The second course title speaks for itself. I hope to continue developing myself into a strategic team player who can provide innovative and profitable ideas and solutions to my employer.

Strategic Management: BUAD 659, 3 credit hours
Taking a global perspective, this course focuses on the role of the general manager in articulating a vision for the business, assessing threats and opportunities in the competitive environment, formulating a strategy for achieving competitive advantage, and designing an organizational architecture for effectively implementing the strategy. Utilizes a combination of lectures, group discussions, and case analysis to raise and examine the key issues.
